Des de Beer spent the first part of his career in the banking industry first with Barclays Bank in South Africa and later with Syfrets which was merged into Nedcor Investment Bank (NIB). He was appointed General Manager Corporate Equity and served on the banks executive committee. He has served on the boards of a number of listed property companies and he is currently a director of New Europe Property Investments Plc and chairs its investment committee.

Eddie started his career at Barclays Bank in 1982 and later moved on to Syfrets and Nedcor Investment Bank. He joined Imperial Bank in 2003 and was transferred to Kwa-Zulu Natal as the Regional Manager of their Property Finance Division. In 2009 Imperial Bank was purchased by Nedbank and Eddie decided to pursue his own interests as a consultant in the Retail Property Industry, he joined the Resilient Africa Team in May 2014 and is currently based in Lagos, Nigeria.

Anton de Bruyn completed his Articles with PriceWaterhouse and relocated to work in the UK for 18 months at Hendersons Investors, being responsible for the finances of their International operations. He joined the Shoprite Group of companies during 2000 where he was responsible for the reporting of the operations outside South-Africa. During his period in the role the Shoprite Group expanded its operations to 16 countries outside South Africa and is now the biggest retailer in Africa. During 2016 his role changed and is now responsible for the operational finances of the Shoprite Group.

Jason started his career in the UK in 2001 working as a project surveyor. He has worked as a Project Manager for a commercial development company in Johannesburg as well as Contracts Manager for various large construction companies in South Africa. Jason joined the Resilient Group in 2010 and has focused on Resilient Africa since 2012.

Philip van der Merwe has been with the Shoprite Group for over 25 years and is responsible for managing and developing the Group Property Portfolio as well as the leasing and roll-out program of new stores. The Group’s activities are spread over 18 countries and 1 000 trading outlets under the brands of Shoprite, Checkers, Checkers Hyper, U-Save, Hungry Lion, OK Foods and House & Home.

Matthew has been working for Resilient Africa since November 2013 where he has been actively involved in Resilient Africa’s developments in Nigeria. Matthew previously worked for a construction company as the site quantity surveyor on a retail development as well as a short stint at a Professional Quantity Surveyor firm before joining Resilient Africa.

Bolarinwa commenced his career with KPMG Professional Services Lagos in 2009, participating and leading teams that provided audit and assurance services to leading financial institutions in Nigeria. He is also a member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria. He joined the Resilient Africa team in July 2016.

Tersia is a qualified DTP operator with 21 years’ experience, during which time she managed her own business. After becoming a mom she became a home executive and committed herself to raising her 3 children. She recently decided to enter the market again and joined the Resilient Africa team in Lagos, Nigeria in June 2015.
